Cal Sharp author and steel guitar player

I play steel guitar and I write mystery books. If you're looking for steel guitar stuff and my gig schedule it's at Steel Guitar Madness.

I've been a musician all my life. I played guitar in rock bands in high school and college and then took up pedal steel guitar and moved to Nashville and worked with a number of Grand Ol' Opry acts for over 20 years.

I've always been a writer, too. I've written articles for two Nashville newspapers, The Tennessean and The Banner, and for Country Music Magazine, Guitar Player Magazine, Music City News and a few other publications. I've had two short stories in Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine and I do a blog at Steel Guitar Insanity. Now, in the era of ebooks, I have two murder mysteries published. Here's my author profile at my publisher, Smashwords, and my page at Amazon's Author Central.

Some of my music articles are at Ezine Articles.

Chevy Summer an ebook set in 1963

Chevy Summer

It's 1963, before the Beatles and the Kennedy assassination. It's a lazy summer with nothing for the teenagers in the small town of Calhoun, just outside Cincinnati, to worry about except rock'n'roll, drag racing, and dancing. But then the murders begin. More...

The Beast From the Back of the Bus

The Beast From the Back of the Bus

Imagine you are an aging over-the-hill country music star on tour in Texas with a murderous ex-con White Supremist on your trail, armed and ready to kill you for past transgressions.

That’s the premise of "The Beast From the Back of the Bus". It’s a mystery/suspense story set in the country music world, but it’s not the typical Nashville tale of fans and babes and pampered stars partying and winning awards. It’s a gritty, existential story of murder, avarice and retribution, and an inside look at the long bus rides, the bars, fans, hotels and backstage antics that are part of a Nashville road musician's lfe. joseph chinnock, internet scammer

Don't get scammed!

On July 19, 2011 Joseph Chinnok, who runs a business called A Writers Collective, contacted me with a request to design 2 book covers for him. The covers were designed and emailed to him and he approved them and paid $60 with PayPal. On Aug 31 he started a chargeback on PayPal, claiming unauthorized use of his credit card, and PayPal debited my account $60 plus $20 for the fee to them from the credit card company. Apparently Chinnock is aware of PayPal's policy of not extending any sellers' protection to digital goods - ebook covers, in my case - and he's using that to get his money back on design jobs. So, if you're a writer looking for a publisher, try to avoid this internet predator. You can read about his sorry criminal ass on the Ripoff Report.
